    NESS CSI Files  Edgar the eel is dead and we need our best marine forensic scientists to figure out how he died.  Perform water tests, dust for finger prints, read witness reports and perform an autopsy (dissection) on the victim all in the effort to discover how Edgar died!   

    Parachute Pioneers Choose this team oriented engineering challenge to build a model parachute and investigate surface area, air dynamics, and gravitational pull. Test your designs in team competitions, utilize iPads to aid construction plans, and have fun with engaging engineering trials while working with friends.

  • Paddle Treks (Ages 11-17)

    Includes: stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, surfing & a boat ride    $220/week

    Combine the best of standup paddle boarding with kayaking to paddle your way around the warm waters of Little Narragansett Bay. Take an adventure outside the harbor for a day of surfing on Rhode Island Beaches. Test your core strength, balance and fitness in this paddling adventure.   Challenge yourself with new skills, play SUP & Yak games, and enjoy the company of friends while exploring our local waters.  Classes will combine stretching and fitness with fun and adventure.

  • Kayak Snorkeling (Ages 11-17)

    Includes: snorkeling, kayaking & free driving    $220/week

    Paddle and explore Little Narragansett Bay during the best months of the year.  Kayak to estuaries, coves, islands, and other places where power boats are not able to go.  Snorkel the warm waters of the harbor and the bay, while learning about local ecosystems and the species that inhabit them. Challenge your snorkeling skills by learning to free dive, using NESS fins. No previous kayaking experience is necessary, but an interest in the ocean, snorkeling, and kayaking is a must for this adventure week.

    A Week in the Life of a Marine Biologist              (Ages 13-16)

    Week 8:  August 10 - 14  8:30 am - 4:00 pm    

    $420/Aquarium members   $450/Aquarium non-members

    Does your teen love marine biology and yearn to know what it’s like to be a scientist? Join the Mystic Aquarium and New England Science & Sailing (NESS) for this exciting program that allows for a unique experience in the best aspects of a career in marine biology. Participants will start their day at NESS exploring Little Narragansett Bay by kayak, snorkel, foot and boat where they will perform field research before heading over to the Mystic Aquarium for engaging hands-on programming. This program is designed to give you a real taste of what it’s like to be a marine biologist. Morning drop-off is at NESS in Stonington. All students take the SEAT bus with an instructor to Mystic Aquarium. Afternoon pick-up is at Mystic Aquarium. All registration will be through Mystic Aquarium.
