  • 2017 Summer Program Registration Opens February 1st

    We will open our registration for 2017 Summer Programs on Wednesday, February 1. NESS summer programs run Mondays through Fridays for 9 weeks (June 26 – August 25, 2017). The half-day and full-day programs are open to students ages 4-17 and located in Stonington, CT and Westerly, RI.

    Beginner Level - There is no better place to start learning the basics of sailing.   Come have fun on the water while learning the language of sailing, rigging, sail handling and steering in a stable boat designed for kids.   Students will be encouraged to sail solo when ready and increase their on-the-water confidence.   This is a four week program that is a true learn to sail class.

  • Powerful Earth, Changing Waters (Ages 5-12)

    Wednesday, December 6th, 9:00 am-12:00 pm

    Cost: $35

    Water is a powerful force on the earth.  Water can shape the coastline, it can float seemingly heavy objects and it can even break rock.  Learn all about hydrology, the branch of science concerned with the properties of the earth's water, especially its movement in relation to land.  Some activities include trying to crack the myth of Davy Jones Locker, building your own watershed, and discovering how water moves through sediment.

  • Science by Lego (grades 5-8)

    Wednesdays 3:15-4:45 pm         October 7, 14, 21 & 28

    Cost: $80

    It’s amazing what can be done with Legos in the world of science.  Each day will be a new Lego science challenge including improving your communication skills by building a mystery animal, graphing scientific findings, building a working sail boat and engineering a bridge that will hold a full can of soda.
