    The dark holds many exciting mysteries.  Discover life as a nocturnal animal, investigate why some animals prefer the dark, and make sense of some of the night sounds.  Take an imaginary trip on our NESS Exploration Vessel to explore the deep sea, underwater volcanoes, and tons of unusual life forms.

  • Simple Machines Extravaganza (Ages 8-12)

    Enrollment: minimum 6 students

    Cost: $80

    Use STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) to explore the important and fun Simple Machines.  Apply all 6 types of simple machines in experiments with ramps, catapults, pulleys, and contraptions.  Make hands on connections to what types of simple machines are found in our everyday lives.

     
  • Aquariums & Terrariums (Ages 4-7)

    Wednesdays   9:00 am-12:00 pm

    October 5, 12 & 19

    Enrollment: minimum 6 students

    Cost: $120

    Work in teams to create marine and terrestrial habitats for land and sea creatures.  Learn all about what animals need to survive like food, water, and shelter.  Take part in all mini-ecosystem care including feeding your animals, cleaning, and performing aquarium and terrarium tests to make sure your habitat is perfect for your plants and animals.

     
  • Rocks, Minerals & Fossils (Grades 1-4)

    Wednesdays 4:00-5:30        March 1, 8, 15 & 22

    Enrollment: minimum 6 students

    Cost: $60

    Dig into the world of rocks and minerals to learn how our earth is made!  Explore coastline formation, fascinating land transformations that are constantly occurring all around us, and experiment with how water passes through different types of sediments.  Investigate how fossils are formed and make your own fossils.  Dress warmly for a portion of outside class time.

    Enrollment: minimum 6 students

    Cost: $80

    Mollusks and Echinoderms are some of the strangest animals on our planet.  Investigate snails, clams, whelks, squid, sea stars, sea urchins, and more.  Make comparisons between different types of mollusks and echinoderms using live and preserved specimens.  Use microscopes to get a closer look.

    Join the splash squad and dive into science and adventure!  Get a taste of kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, and surfing practice safely in the harbor.  Venture into the tidal splash zones to see what types of animals thrive in this harsh environment and learn how animals make splashes that help with communication, defense, and hunting.
