    Want a little bit of everything NESS has to offer for science?  This is the class for you.  Learn about marine life up close by snorkeling, experiment with chemical reactions, and hone your engineering skills by creating and launching an ROV off our docks.    

     
  • Gallup Hill Puff Car Competition (Grades K-6)

    Friday, October 9th    1:15-4:15 pm

    Enrollment: minimum 10 students

    Cost: $40

    Build and race your own alternative energy vehicle that is powered by you! Compare and graph how your vehicle does compared to other students and finally race your vehicle in the first ever Gallup Hill Puff Car Grand Prix.  Registration due: Oct. 9th, please contact Gallup Hill to register.     

     
  • Animal Kids (Ages 3-6)

    Enrollment: minimum 6 students

    Cost: $80

    Animal young have special adaptations that help them survive.  Look into these special abilities as you investigate mammals, marsupials, reptiles, and different planktonic animals.  Learn about the names of all different kinds of animal babies, kids, moms, and dads.  Use microscopes to get closer looks at many young ocean animals.

    Tuesdays; September 8, 15, 22 & 29    October 6 & 13

    7:30-8:30 am

    Minimum: 6 participants               Cost: $15/class

    Be introduced to an incredible sport that will keep you fit, focused and balanced! Give your body the boost of energy it needs by refreshing your senses and having fun on the ocean.  Explore Stonington Harbor on stand up paddle boards, while stretching, relaxing and testing your core balance.  No previous experience is needed, but an interest in the ocean and being active is a must!

    Wednesdays 3:15-4:45        December 2, 9 & 16

    Enrollment: minimum 6 students

    Cost: $60

    Use science, technology, engineering, art, and math to undertake these exciting STEAM challenges. Learn about the field of Biomimicry as you develop a product based on nature to design and market to the NESS judges, take the marble maze craze challenge, build a model catapult, investigate wind power using iPads, and experiment with wind turbine shapes.     

     
  • Caine's Arcade Challenge (Grades K-4)

    Thursdays 4:00-5:30        February 4, 11, 18 & 25

    Enrollment: minimum 6 students

    Cost: $80

    Follow in 9 year old Caine’s footsteps as you build your own arcade games out of cardboard, recycled materials, and creativity.  Work as a team to design, build, and play your games.  Gain inspiration from Caine’s Arcade website and prepare for the Global Cardboard Challenge of 2016.     

     
  • Animals of the Ice (Ages 4-7)

    Penguins, walruses, polar bears, whales, and many more animals love the winter!  Do you?  Discover some of the amazing adaptations animals have to survive in freezing conditions.  Simulate penguins holding eggs, experiment with the color of polar bear fur and skin, investigate the warmth of blubber, and learn more about the animals who thrive in the ice.
