  • Wind & Waves (Ages 11-17)

    Includes: surfing, windsurfing & boat rides    $260/week

    The power of the ocean is supreme, come learn to harness this power!  The ocean and its connections with land give us the ultimate tool to play with – strong winds and crashing waves. This week you will have the opportunity to utilize them both. Test your skills in harnessing the wind while riding on a windsurf board.  Learn how to predict, select and judge waves while surfing. Experience the incredible feeling of riding the wind and waves while gaining excellent upper body strength, balance and core fitness!

  • Body, Balance & Mind (Ages 11-17)

    Incudes: stand up paddle boarding, surfing & boat rides    $270/Week

    Be introduced to two incredible sports that will keep you fit, focused and balanced! Give your body the boost of energy it needs by refreshing your senses and having fun on the ocean.  Explore Stonington Harbor on stand up paddle boards, while stretching, relaxing and testing your core balance. Ride the crystal clear waves off Rhode Island beaches during surf class. No previous experience is needed, but an interest in the ocean and being active is a must.  This class is perfect for new or returning students.

  • Week 7 (Aug. 3-7)

    Sound Super Heroes (AM Session, 9 am - 12 pm)

    Gain animal, plant, and environmental knowledge while having tons of fun in our local outdoor ecosystems in Fishers Island Sound.   Apply your new knowledge and become a Sound Super Hero as you take part in a student run wildlife fair and decide, formulate, and carry out an activity with your fellow classmates to help benefit the Sound and its wildlife. Use the ancient art of gyotaku to create a fish print on a T-shirt and enjoy the rush of boogie boarding and stand up paddle boarding. Includes: stand up paddle boarding, boogie boarding, fish printing (bring a light colored T-shirt), boat trips, and snorkel adventures.                                 $215/week

    Come and enjoy the Wednesday night summer series races on beautiful Stonington harbor.  The Stonington harbor Wednesday night series is a great opportunity for a parent and child to have a fun little evening sail together.  Come check out one of our new Hartley 12s, Lasers, 420s, Optis, or O'pen Bics.  Participants under the age of 18 must have signed permission from a parent to join in on the fun.  Nightly specials will be offered so if you are interested come pick up a summer racing flyer.
     
  • Final Summer Adventures

    Monday, August 31 - Friday, September 4          

    9:00 am - 4:00 pm

    Minimum: 6 students               Cost: $510

    Wrap up summer by surfing, wind-surfing, sailing, snorkeling, fishing, and learning marine science.  Get a taste of sailing on the 23 foot Sonars and in Optis for part of a day, then use some of the skills you’ve learned from sailing and apply them to wind-surfing.  Take the first exciting step in learning to surf by practicing your stance, balance, paddle technique, and duck dives safely in the harbor.  Snorkel for underwater critters and learn about how these animals have adapted to their environments.  Use your observations of these animals to create your own creature and use biomimicry to create a product that could benefit all humans.   

     
  • Adult Learn To Sail - Spring 2015

    Enrollment is limited to 4 adults per class.
    No Experience Required.

    Designed to build strong foundational sailing skills, this course is appropriate for beginner and intermediate sailors who want a refresher couse. The program provides a thorough introduction to sailing lingo, rigging and de-rigging, basic sailing maneuvers and safety and gets you some good sea time.

    Ecosystem Treasure Hunt (PM Session, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm)  Cost: $40   Minimum 6 students

    Puff Car Competition Build and race your own alternative energy vehicle that is powered by you!  Compare and graph how your vehicle does compared to other students and finally race your vehicle in the first ever Puff Car Grand Prix! 

    Ecosystem Treasure Hunt Follow maps and clues to reach different ecosystems and find the natural treasures within the environment.  Use compasses, microscopes, and animal evidence to decipher the hints to reveal and find your destinations.  Remember to dress warmly as we will be outside!

    Nano Engineering Investigate the world of nanotechnology by taking on two challenges.  Work in teams to evaluate how surface area and nanotechnology affect some products we use daily in the Fizzy Nano Challenge, and then look at how engineers use nanotechnology to improve on clothing and fabrics.  

    Crazy Classifications Dinosaurs, sharks, and even horseshoe crabs roamed the Earth millions of years ago.  Many mysterious ancient creatures swam in the oceans or lumbered around on land.  Look into the past as you discover what animals lived in our area and what animals remain from our prehistoric past.

    The Amazing Lives of Sea Turtles Sea turtles are amazing creatures with many different adaptations for life.  Learn about the differences between turtles, tortoises, and terrapins, explore the seven different species of sea turtles, discover what they eat, how the reproduce and use iPads to track turtles in the wild.
