  • Pine Point Winter Break (Grades 5-8) March 13-17

    Aquaculture & Aquariums (AM Session, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm)   Cost: $180    Minimum 6 students

    ROV Construction (PM Session, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm) Cost: $180    Minimum 6 students

    Aquaculture & Aquariums Use the NESS aquariums to create your own thriving freshwater aquaculture systems.  Pick a current NESS species to work with and create optimal living conditions for growth, breeding possibilities, and health.  Experiment with structures, substrates, and other variables.  Look into animal behavior and perform water quality tests.

  • Adult Beyond Intermediate (Ages 16+)

    Weekdays 12:00-6:00 pm; May 1-June 19

    Saturday & Sunday 10:00 am-5:00 pm; May 12-June 14

    $60 for up to 4 people, $20 each additional person up to 6. 

    If you have taken our intermediate class and are looking to further your skills then this is the class for you.  Our Instructor will guide you as needed while you take advantage of sailing around Fishers Island Sound working on the skills you have learned.  NO NEED to own a boat, just use ours. Must schedule 2 days in advance, weather permitting. Prices shown are for 2 hours, $20 for one additional hour. (Max of 3 hours)

    For sailors with experience:

    For those who already have sailing experience, schedule a checkout sail, and an instructor will make sure that you are ready to take our boats out all summer!  If you would like more instruction in a relaxed environment, our private lessons are a great way to build your confidence on the water.  Please call the NESS office for more information and reservations.  Checkout sails are $50 and take 1 hour, call our office to schedule an appointment.”

  • Week 7 (August 7-11)

    One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, You Fish (All Day, 9:00 am-4:00 pm)

    Begin each morning at New England Science & Sailing (NESS) to investigate fish shapes, colors, and behaviors using underwater cameras, microscopes, and snorkel gear.  Fish print on your own T-shirt, perform a fish dissection, get into the field by powerboat to explore fish populations, and try your hand at fishing using rod & reel, dip nets, seine nets, and cast nets.  For the afternoon, campers will be transported to the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center (DPNC) at the Coogan Farm to "fish for" creative inspiration on the trails, at the mysterious Stillman mansion foundation and in the rich earth of the Giving Garden.  Bring your inspiration to life inside the beautiful Jules Xavier Schneider Art Barn (the Nature and Creative Arts Center),up on the hill at the Hamm Pavilion overlooking the Mystic river or at a chosen spot on the farm, using found and natural materials. 

     $400/week

    Morning drop-off is at NESS and afternoon pick-up will be at DPNC.  
    *Late pick-up will not be available for this program.     
     
  • Bic's & Hartleys (ages 9-12)

    Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm     $285/week

    June 26-30, July 3-7*, July 10-14, July 17-21, July 24-28, July 31-August 4, August 7-11, August 14-18, August 21-25, August 28-September 1

    Pre-requisites: Opti Learn to Sail or Second Taste of Opti

    Intermediate Level - Our Learn to Bic class will introduce students who have already taken one of our taste or learn to sail classes how to sail another type of boat.     The O’pen Bic is a fast planning boat that allows students to feel the need for speed at an early age.   Designed specifically for kids, the O’pen BIC is a true glide machine for real excitement on the water.
    *$228/week, NESS will be closed Monday, July 4

Almost one year ago we welcomed our first class of 7 NESS SEA AmeriCorps members to embark on a year of service to the students of New London.   • 2017 Summer Program Registration Opens February 1st

    We will open our registration for 2017 Summer Programs on Wednesday, February 1. NESS summer programs run Mondays through Fridays for 9 weeks (June 26 – August 25, 2017). The half-day and full-day programs are open to students ages 4-17 and located in Stonington, CT and Westerly, RI.
