  • Boater's Ed (Ages 12-17)

    Includes: class room modules, boat driving practice & US Sailing Safe Powerboating Certificate   $280/week

    Join a NESS USCG licensed captain and learn the basics of safe boating.  Designed for yound boaters who are interested in gaining knowledge and confidence in coastal navigation.  Students will take to the water as they learn basic powerboat maneuvers in one of our 17 ft. whalers, including docking and anchoring. Upon successful completion of the on-water and classroom modules, students will receive their US Sailing Safe Powerboating Certificate.  Students will also have satisfied the Connecticut State requirements to obtain their CT Safe Boaters License.

    Mon – Thurs,  1:00 pm – 4:00 pm                 Friday, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

    DNA: Building Blocks of Life (AM Session, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm)   Cost: $40   Minimum 6 students

    Eggciting Egg Drop (PM Session, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm)    Cost: $40   Minimum 6 students

    DNA: Building Blocks of Life Learn how DNA makes organisms what they are!  Build a model of DNA, extract DNA from bananas and look at it under a microscope, then take a survey of your own inherited traits and how common they are.

    Eggciting Egg Drop Space exploration is dangerous for even the bravest of people, and one of the most dangerous times for an astronaut is coming back to Earth.  Learn how astronauts make it safely back to Earth after exploring the “final frontier”, and create your own space shuttle that safely lands your egg “astronaut”.

  • Hartley 12 Level 1 (ages 10-16)

    Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm        $285/week

    June 26-30, July 3-7*, July 10-14, July 17-21, July 24-28, July 31-August 4, August 7-11, August 14-18, August 21-25

    Pre-requisites, Level 1: none

    Beginner Level - The Hartley Level 1 class offers a great one week learn to sail program for older students. Students will learn basic sailing lingo, how to rig and how to sail on this new, slick boat.   Designed as a recreational level boat the Hartley 12 is the perfect boat to get started in the fun sport of sailing.
    *228/week, NESS will be closed Tuesday, July 4
     
  • Big Boat Cruising (Ages 16+)

    Saturdays; July 8, July 22, August 5, August 19, September 2; 9:00 am-1:00 pm        

    Spend your Saturday cruising Fisher's Island Sound in one of NESS' 35' cruising boats! Along with an instructor, learn the ins and outs of what it takes to be a part of a team that runs a big sailboat, nothing can be done alone! We cover rigging/de-rigging, reefing, navigation, and sea-safety on big sailboats. This course is perfect for the experienced sailor looking for an introduction to larger sailboats, as well as sailors who just want more sea-time!

    $200/class
